It can be difficult to get the pipes in and sealed on the Arnotts, a smear of silicone grease or washing up liquid helps.
The collets are the same as Dunlops on mine.

Had a look earlier but cannot see a collet. Sprayed soap but no bubbles. I wonder if i could have cracked the top somehow?

Of the bag? The line could be brittle and aged? Take the line out and try refitting in the bag?
Mine are still sturdy but probably not original. Most service expenses I have receipts for my vehicle are EAS related

Cannot get the ****ing line out! That's part of the problem.

Was too busy for a proper look today so will have to wait until next weekend.

Not easy to see up at the top back
Try stick your phone up there snap it with the flash on like I did with the GBox plug?

Are L322 lines different to P38? My P38 lines go pretty close to the spare wheel well where thyey go through the channel above the axle.

This is a P38 and the lines do indeed go in a channel behind the wheel well above the axle.

Had another look tonight and it looks as though I f*cked a brand new airbag. Damned if I can see how though. It worked perfectly well on the test-drive. Things learnt tonight:

1) The Arnott bags do not have a collet like the Dunlops. The Arnott instructions come with a diagram of OEM showing a screw in brass fitting with a brass ring that clamps over the airline and an Arnott fitting which has the collet that depresses to release the line. These are in fact reversed: the OEM bag has the collet that depresses and the Arnott has the brass fitting and brass ring that as far as I can see seems to get clamped onto the airline when you push it on. In order to get the bag off I had to unscrew the brass fitting (the Arnott instructions say very specifically not to do this!) and then once the fitting is out you can diassemble the line and prise the brass ring off. Be careful though as once it has squeezed a few times (like someone trying to see what gap it needs in order to reassemble) it snaps in half and leaves you f*cked. So, black mark to Arnott there. Once the bag is plumbed in there doesn't appear to be a way to get the line out again without killing the bag. This is a new development as @Datatek has older Arnott bags and says they have the usual collet.

2) My massive air leak was caused by the top cap coming slightly adrift. I cannot see how this could happen. With the car jacked up (wheel not off the ground, just enough to get at the clips holding the top of the bag in) my rear shock is about 16" long. Fully extended the Arnott bag is 17". So it shouldn't be possible to pull it off. I wonder of the previous owner possibly mixed up the front and rear shocks and when I replaced them I just copied what was there and maybe I have too much travel on the back? Weird thing is, I am sure the shocks came out of the right boxes and matched what was on there because I checked very carefully at the time. I am sure @wammers said one lot of shocks was longer on the diesel. I think there is something different on the front because the diesel engine is so much lighter. Something like that? I'd be interested in what the length of the shock is on maximum travel is from other diesel owners - @RangeRoller dt : BE CAREFUL NOT TO PULL YOUR SPRINGS OUT!

Not a good weekend.

L322 compressor and exhaust. In the spare wheel well. But not all the rest of valve.

P38 totally different setup, maybe you read as “near wheel well”

If that is the case you need to support the pipe with a little insert to stop it collapsing?

Something not right going on:confused:

It is bust now either way. I've tried ringing the past few days to ask how to remove it but couldn't get through.

As an aside, the bags have Contitech printed on them. Is that the European factory or their owners?!

Front /back are different lengths due to the difference in weight of the front end (engine). These are Arnott 2’s you have?

id try send them back.

Upload a pic of the damage there might be a way to repair.

Don’t faff with getting the line out of the bag just chop the line somewhere it’s comfortably accessible and use a pushfit connector to join it back up. It’s a good idea to put brand new line in a new air bag any time you fit one then plumb it into the old line somewhere accessible with a pushfit connector.

Too late. Already tried that. The ring won't hammer back into place and even if it did that little brass split ring has snapped.
