Hi all, seems EAS issues are quite commonplace on P38's I've been wading thru the posts as I have problems too. I have the obligatory christmas tree lights flashing on the height setting selector and the suspension is stuck in high with the EAS dash warning beep beeping on start up. The compressor pump does work ok as it chugs away when the ignition is on then stops. I shall check / clean and if need be replace the relay in the fuse box. However if this fails I thought I would download the 'free EAS software' recommended by datatek from www.rswsolutions.com however I couldn't find any free software it says to buy an EAS buddy for US$198 plus shipping... obviously before shelling out this kind of money I thought I would ask the forum for advice before taking to a garage... BTW any recomendations for a decent range rover garage in Suffolk? Thanks for reading, and I appreciate any help. Thanks/Chris

The free software is there too, but you'll need an EAS specfic cable too, either from fleabay or the plans are there to make your own. Then you'll be able to pinpoint the problem.

In the meantime........The pump running is a start; however that doesn't always mean it's providing air, the internal seal is one of the common failure points, particularly if there is a leak somewhere and it's been overworked, or just old age on some cars.

I'm assuming if it's stuck on high and not dropping at all/unevenly then the springs/bags themselves and the airlines that feed them are sound. So firstly try a soapy water test on all the other joints as a start e.g. tank, pump and dryer. Look for bubbles, they won't necessarily be big or lots so look carefully.

many thanks, found it and have downloaded and ordered software cable from tinterweb... vehicle is P reg with only 100k mileage but will check seals and let you know progress.... thanks again

All wheel drive services at Brantham Mill ind Est (just before Manningtree) He's a one man band but knows his stuff and has Testbook. If you cant find the Number, speak to Duncan at Britcar Landrover parts 01206 804604, he is also a top fella and is 10 yards from AWDS.

At that age i would think about rebuilding the valve block. The O rings get hard and flattened and the diaphram valves can split. I have one on the bay at the moment that has been refurbed.

Read the faults when you get the software and cable and get back to us. If your car has 100K on it then your airbags almost certainly need replacing. Otherwise a height sensor is the most likely cause.:D
