Hi,

So, there seems a lot of stuff on the EAS but I have a bit of an odd one and wonder where to go next.

The compressor seems to run almost constantly and has become quite loud. And even though the dash lights don't change, the car always seems to end up on full height after a drive.

When selecting normal or low, it all drops down correctly, very occasionally there is a slight knock as it goes down, like its sticking very slightly.

And yet if left overnight it dosent go down at all.

I have done the soapy water test, no leaks and I have read loads but not sure what to check, test, replace next.

But it is defiantly not quite right. Dances around a little, am just not sure what's going on.

I was thinking of getting the cable and software to check for errors.
Or should I be looking at a compressor referb, sensors, valve block or valve block driver?

Any advice much appreciated.

i would get the cable and sw read the faults and check the height settings.
You will probably need it in future anyway if you intend to keep it for any langth of time
 
I think you have 2 options:

1. Get the software

2. Go to springs

I spent a lot of time trying to diagnose faults on my EAS - it's quite a simple system after all, but if you can't test stuff properly then it can get expensive if you start replacing things. I had a problem with a height sensor, which cause random height changes, and the pressure switch which caused the compressor to over-run and overheat. Eventually, I got sick of it and did a coil conversion. Never looked back, and I love the car more since.

Definitly get the free software and cable but don't go to springs. The fact that you've taken the trouble to research means that you've got the inclnation to solve the problem before doing anything rash and you'll certainly be better prepared for any future probs.

You've got the signs of a driver pack problem. Unfortunatly its probably been compounded at this stage by worn compressor too. The drive pack is very difficult to pin down as a problem but unrequested height changes and dancing at the lights are two classic symptoms. Constant running of the compressor is a result of the constant changes in height and brings about an immature end to the compressor seal.
If you've got the cash buy a new drive pack. Its a no brainer as if it turns out not to be the problem it will sell for nearly the same money on ebay. At the same time order a new compressor seal from roverrenovations or the dutch guys. If you don't need it now, you'll def need it soon and better to be looking at it than for it.
If it turns out that its not the drive pack then you have air leaking past some valves. do a search on the diaphragm valve for info.
But I'm certain it's your drive pack :)

i think spudh is spot on this would be my way forward if i had these problems:)
 
I totaly love my car, so am defo going to keep it.
I will invest in a new driver pack.
Is it easy to change?

Can anyone suggest the best place to buy one?

Would you also suggest just replacing the seals on the compressor?
Or seals, a full referb kit and the mounts as I am doing the job?

Any recommendations where to buy.
Id rather use a trusted source than a random punt on ebay or Google.

For the driver pack go to a stealer if you want to be sure, plenty on Ebay second hand but you can't be sure they are better than yours.
 
I've do the same, just had manual coil springs with Koni shocks fitted, got rid of the air system, as they get old, to many problems. The ride is slightly stiffer but great all round, wish I had done it a while ago, also fitted the EAS fault reading bypass to the BCEM. Worth the money.
