Hi have a strange one for you the cars EAS was playing up again with a soft fault tried everything to no avail so crawled under to check the sensors out which were fairly new (britpart) I know !! Any hoo both sensors were snapped where they bolt onto the chassis and were literally just sitting in the support has anybody ever had this before ?
So going to get oem ones this time and the blocks to do the calibration question is with the blocks is doing 2 the same as if only changing one?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

hey kid, your changing both rear sensors?
sorry for my ignorance but I dont understand your question to well!
your not going to buy the blocks are you?o_O

Hi yes both were broken so unusable and as for the the blocks
no I am going to make them as per wammers dimensions in the how to section

Hi sorry been away yes island 4x4 the oem sensors ANR4687G rears ANR4686G fronts £119.98 per pair hope it helps

Not for a 1996 P38 they aren't. They are for 1997 and on. Height sensors for 1996 are four separate units and cannot be swapped side to side as the later ones can.

can he still use them? Or are they different plugs or signal position differences ??

Wiring differences. Early ones don't have four different part numbers, one for each corner for nothing. If you have RAVE with various year wiring diagrams look at 1994-1995-1996 diagrams and compare with 1997 on diagrams, they are different. Early ones use a fly lead for connection, later looms plug straight into sensor. 97-02. ANR4686 front left or right. ANR4687 Rear left or right. 94-97. STC3578AA front left. STC3579AA front right. STC3594AA Rear left. STC3593AA Rear right.

Regarding the early / late differences, once one has installed the kit with new bracket and harness for the old vehicles, does that mean that any subsequent replacements can be with the newer type of height sensor? They look pretty similar...

Possibly i don't know never fitted any with the modification bracket, which appears to change the mounted position. The harness will also have to change the wiring setup pin allocations. As i recall on older vehicles the pin allocation on the rears is different from the fronts. On later versions front and rear have same pin output allocations.

Hi didn't mean to cause a ruckus or any confusion just saying my sensors were are the ones without the lead and my car is a p reg 1996 but a late p most of the parts I have to get are for a 1997 MY so they must have just been put on as one of the first newer sets

a case of mooching underneath and a couple of pictures and/or part numbers taken. No ruckus, swap over models or models produced around the time of will have a mixture of parts from the production periods.
mines a 99MY diesel, But without the third cylinder head sensor, as previously discussed with wammers, once again there is supposed to be one!! Early 99 or late 98?? I also, years ago, different car and all, had a late mk1 golf which had a mk2 radiator fitted as standard...once again on a change over period.. Once again adds to the point of getting your paws dirty and looking before buying. Not that this is the case for this..
ok, finished...

Later ones ARE swappable side to side. That is why there is only one part number for fronts and one part number for rears. EARLY ones are NOT swappable side to side.
