Just bought my first P38 Landrover this weekend and love it, drove the 400 miles home fine but now the suspension has got stuck on the high mode and all the height lights are on abd EAS warning message on the dash. Havent got a clue what's to be done...can anybody help a newbie? Have I bought a lemon? Cheers in advance Rich Baker

:welcome2:

First off, you need to get hold of the EASUnlock Software and Connection Lead....

You would have to obtain the lead or make one and The Software is free from RSW Solutions, or alternatively the best solution would be to contact a member on here called Datatek, for the princely sum of around £11 & p+p he can kindly supply the Software and a manufactured, tested Lead.

Once you have this to hand, you can plug in the lead and read the fault codes from the ECU....

Unfortunatly without knowing what has caused the fault, we could be flying blind.

Luckily if it hasn't sunk to the bump stops, things *might* not be to bad and might only be a height sensor or a pressure switch....

(Also, put your location in as there may be someone local to you who can help for the hugely extortionate price of a bacon sandwich and posh biscuits)

Again without the fault reading....its hit and miss.

I don't think you have bought a lemon (depending on fault codes..!!) as the RR P38 EAS is a weak point of what is otherwise a great car....

The Wammer and Datatek are geniuses on the EAS system, but first Contact Datatek for a lead and software....damn sight cheaper than you can find on Fleabay or elsewhere....

Thanks so much for that, sounds like it might not be too bad then. If anyone is in the Egham area of Surrey and they know how to help me fix this give me a shout. Cheers Rich

Put your location in your profile it will then show in all your posts.
Silly suggestion but have you tried the raise lower rocker switch on the dash? is the eas lock button pushed in/ illuminated?
height will not change if any doors tailgate bonnet are open.
Download RAVE (do a search on here) its the rangey workshop manual, you will need it sooner or later, sooner in most cases
Also p38s hate anything but fully charged batterys, all sorts of faults can occur if its even a little below fully charged.
Welcome to the world of P38s

A little birdie told me that if you buy the EAS unlock lead and software from DATATEK he loads RAVE onto the disc as well.

Hi

My Dad had a similar issue p38 (owned since new). Being a bit tight he spent ages trying to find a solution with the elecies even went as far as resoldering the wires on the rock switch on the dash.

In the end his usual garage said the only way to fix was to replace 2 corners of the air suspension struts. Parts were about 800, fitting(quite complex) 800.

Alternative was to convert it in to a monster truck - it rode well high!

So maybe not a lemon - more of a slightly bitter orange.

£800 to replace 2 air suspension units on a P38? He was ripped off, Air suspension unit about £60, fitting about 15 minutes per corner:rolleyes:

Jesus wish i could pull jobs like that, out of retirement tomorrow and do two a week what an earner that would be. No sod it getting greedy, two a day, but i would only work four days a week.:D:D:D

I just bought a set of bags (4) for £280 fitted them in a drunken stew in 3.5 hours, so where you got £800 from is beyond me, you must have got that price wrong

Apparently when they stripped it down they discovered some of the wiring had corroded (before you ask he did see it). This meant the wires back to the ecu needed replacing.

It was either that or ditch the car to the dealer.

ooooh blimey think I better get those leads....Datatek I shall email you. Where do I plug the lead into..and do I just reset from the laptop?

Sounds like they fitted a complete wiring harness and diamond studded Arnott gen IIIs with the solid platignum piston option.
