Hi this is my first post so I'm probably in the wrong place.
Basically I'm struggling wire in up my fuel gauge.
I can only get it to say full, even though I know it's only half full.
I have pulled the Sender unit out so I can play around with the float but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

How can I tell if the unit is faulty or my wiring is up the creek?

If your gauge goes to empty when you disconnect the wiring from the sender, and full when you connect the wire to an earth, then the gauge and wiring are probably OK.

thanks for that
I have taken the unit apart and one of the contacts on what i think is some kind of vaiable resistor was not touching.
I bent that and now it works.
