ive got a replacement front carpet but didnt see it, got a big stain and thought i would have to throw it away

until someone on here, sorry terrible with names came up with the great idea of me dyeing it black and will save me a fortune

seen 5 litres of dye and seems as though u just brush or sponge it in and allow to dry

read all the warnings on the advert but cant see if its harmful in any way to dogs

has anyone done this please and if so what sort of result did u get and any idea once its all dry if its harmful in any way to dogs

have emailed the company a few times and not heard anything back

this was the dye ive looked at

Alrite Gaz!

FL1 carpets are pretty tough and fully synthetic, not sure if the dye will bond chemically?

Your carpets will take a good power hosing, strong water tight backing, very durable woven, worth a try, best removed first before a power hose! ;)

thks guys

have got the carpets out and spent ages trying to clean it, but when i match it up with the rear one is looks a greyish colour

have spoken to some dye companies and they agree with u in wont hold the dye properly and will in time come off

managed to find someone who will do a swap with me as he wants a grey one and he's hot a black front carpet but has got wet, which im not bothered about

never thought about sticking a power wash on it but by the sounds of it will hopefully get it clean

have got a patio round cleaner attachment for my karcher and wonder if that would be to much for it

just a thought when u get them all clean is there any products u can put on them to protect them, ie a scotch guard etc

thks again guys as always for ur great help

will be taking some pics when its all stripped out so it may be of use in the future to anyone

will be the dashboard out next as ive got to replace the heater matrix at the same time

being a sad old git enjoy doing things like this

If the front carpet is anything like the back with the sound deadening foam it will take forever to dry as the foam absorbs all the water. I found that out the hard way.

i cleaned the back carpet and ur not wrong about it drying, i put it out side over the garden table and it took around 4-5 days to dry

then stood it up in the bath so no bugs etc would go over it

the carpet will be coming the end of this week

seen some really nice black leather seats and are for a 3 door, with the correct levers to fold the front seats forward

am very tempted so will see at a later date

try a scrap yard or email them when you see a freelander being scrapped on fleabay it might be worth a try

during last years Easter holidays I washed the boot carpet with a Kärcher pressure washer, the "normal" nozzle and some scrubbing was enough to get all the dirt out but it took almost a week to dry and it was in the sun of the Algarve.

I had an engine in my boot last summer and it fell over pouring all it's oil in the back. I took the carpet out and got the work got pressure washed on it and it came up ok. I hung the carpet up outside at work and it hasn't yet dried enough to put it back in. I have looked in a few scrap yards but the rear window if normally down and the rear carpet is filthy and requires a steam clean. Catch 22

thks guys

the rear carpet i washed and is ok, waiting for the front carpet to come

also there are some round clips that join the front with the back, have been trying to find some in breakers as the dealers want 10 quid each for them and i think i need around 7 x of them , certainly refuse to pay there prices,

my dashboard turned up today, gave that a nice hosepipe and has come up lovely

my current cloth seats i just cant get all the dirt out of them, if u bang the seat it keeps coming to the surface

to keep my options open, that when i get them removed and decide to keep them if a hose pipe and some shampoo along with a soft brush would get all the dirt out and bring them up really nice

i belive the covers do come off but petrified in taking them off in case i cant get them back on

a full set of leather seats are around 400 quid and got to justify that kind of money, dont mind if they took a week to dry as ive got all the dashboard and matrix to be getting on with

i have got a steamer as well, if the seat covers do come off easily can they be put in the washing machine or is that fatel in the fear of them shrinking

thks so much again for all the help and wish to get everything before i start to strip bits out

will put some pics up as i go along, for ref to anyone else if they help in any way
