Castrol reckon 75W90 for a 2006MY TD4.

LR Handbook says MTF 94 which, I believe, is completely different.

I can't trust the Castrol site on that evidence.

That's why I suggested trying the three options, I was just trying to nudge the OP in the right direction rather than just give a plain answer, making him work for his tea. ;);) I'd go for MTF90 or ATF at a push. :)
 
Not necessarily the same problem, but my clutch bite point had been very low since I owned the car, to the point where it is sometimes reluctant to go into first. No amount of bleeding helped this (I now have a small air leak into the system somewhere as it needs bled every two months) so I cut off the pin that the master cylinder push rod clips into on the pedal and re-welded it a couple of mm closer to the bulkhead, which has had the effect of raising the bite point up to a respectable level.

Its a two minute job (fiddly though!) to get the pedal off, so if I had your problems, I would bag a spare pedal from a breakers and try that before taking the box out again.


did it look like your pin had bent or was it the leaking issue alone??? didnt really want to go down this route if can help it but if i cant resolve issue i will either do that or set fire to it lol

so the oils ok


No mate, I rather think Castrol have got it wrong, do you have an owners hand book for your motor??, have you asked a Land Rover dealer?? Oh! sod it, it's MTF or at a push ATF that you need, try it and see, I'm confident your problem will be sorted.
Don't really know why I got involved with this one, where the hell is our guru when needed most??????????? :D:D:D

Any good speck ATF is just as good as MTF94, honest.

if no mtf-94 is to be found ..
find a replacement with the same spec.

manual transmission fluid 75w80 .. API GL4 ..

a.f.a.i.k. the " API GL4 " bit is important ..
i.e. the GL-5 spec. is too slippery and screws up synchromesh operation ..
plus i think it might include additives that are harmful to some types of gearbox bits ..
