hi alle :)

i have ar odd problem with my p38 dse from 96 ..

id cant get get ti to crank when i turn the key but if i turn the key en then jump relay 16 it start ..

so in my minde it is the earth to the relay there is missing . but why ??

how du i test that ..

Is it auto or manual? If auto ,could be inhibitor switch. Try moving selector between P and N while holding key in start position. Failing that , download Rave, go to Electrical troubleshooting and carry out tests in section B1 :D

Out of sync won't stop cranking. Engine disabled will. Needs to look at ignition relay and starter relay. Or check inhibit switch behind right hand kick panel for good contact.

Thought on some MY's it stops cranking and on others it cuts fuel...or is that on the petrol models...??

Always get mixed up with gas guzzlers, one will crank but not start one won't crank. The diesel will crank all day out of sync just won't start.:):)

Yes, The diesels crank but won't fire.

What is mean't by sometimes it starts off the key?

He needs to confirm this. Does it start normaly off the key, by this we mean not just farts, but a full start?

i have bin starting fine on the key until about 14 days ago .

then it began to wait haf a sek ant then turn the engin when when i turend the key .

i have changed the starter and bat and it have bin running fine fore about a week . then today it dident chrank ....

i can tuen the key to possision 2 and manuel put a wier over lake 3an 5 on relau 16 and start it

but witch one relay 16 Works

It will always turn over if you bridge 3 and 5 on relay 16. It's pins 1 and 2 that pull the relay. Pin 1 is power, pin 2 is grounded by ignition switch to make the circuit.
