Hi landy lovers... I have to do me glow plugs very soon..this cold snap has really amplify the problem.. my problem is .. inlet manifold.. leave on or off for the job?????

Changed mine twice now, both timed without manifold removal, but I imagine it would be easier with it off & out of the way, the only trouble I had was that the electical connector on No 1 plug rotated under the nut & broke off! There isn't much spare wire to re-make the connector, so I had to strip back into the loom to release a bit more wire, a bit fiddly!

Its not a long job to remove the manifold and it makes the job sooo much easier, and another tip is do it with the engine warm its much kinder to the fingers this weather!

Yeah, manifold off is the way to go, mind you be careful putting it back on not to catch the wire for the no.4 injector like I did!

Take the manifold off, its an easy remaval, and makes the job dead easy. I did leave the injection pipes on the injectors though. Didnt see the need to remove those.
Stealers will tell you otherwise, just adds time to the job without any reason.

Trying to change the glow plugs on a DSE without removing the manifold is like spending your honeymoon stood up in a canoe. Why make things difficult if you don't have to. Ten minutes to remove manifold and makes the job several times easier.

Hi landy lovers... boy o boy!!! spent the morning doing my glow plugs... outside..in the freezing cold.. snowing well.. and with wisdom tooth ache..!!!!!!!! it was cold enough putting one leg out of bed this morning !! nevermind under the bonnet of me beast!!!!!.. any way.. i did take the inlet manifold.. and it did make it more easy... and now it starts instantly!!! and 6 hours later and i still canny feel my arse!!!! many thanks for all your thoughts and opinions ... as always i could not have done it with out you.... stuart
