you cannot risk it.
Jail time!

Minimum means the Beak can impose a longer ban but must give at least 12 months,I agree, it should be more.

Where does insurance stand with drunk drivers? Do they still payout or do you have to make a claim against the driver personally for costs?

I recall someone getting done for an accident when drunk, their insurance paid out but they're paying their insurance co back on the drip for the costs of it all...

I love Ireland (married a paddy), been going over for 10 years and intend to move over in the next 18 months.
I cant believe how common drink driving is, I have been on nights out with family and friends and at the end of the night some members of the party will drive after way too many and think nothing of it. They are clamping down but still a long way to go.

its very common here, a neighbour that stoped to help had a few, as did a few others that passed!
her adult kids were soon on the scene and ate the head of her!

thanks all for the comments and wishes!

stay safe all, dont d&d, strap the kids in!

Humbling pictures there.

If I'm driving, I dont even have 1, and if I have 1, I dont drive. It keeps it simple

Same here...my theory is if i had one and I thought I was an OK driver, next time I might decide I could get away with two....next time three....and so on...so its better to not even tempt that process.
