Hi there, just got into my 300tdi 90 and noticed a couple of drops of oil under the clutch pedal. Ive heard that this could be the clutch master cylinder, am i correct? Also, is this amount of oil worth worrying about? Thanks in advance guys, Josh

Yup it could be the clutch master cylinder.

Do I really need to answer the second bit :rolleyes:

not initially.

I got the 'drip' thought, "it will be fine" stopped for a few months, started again, drove to cornwall, got in next day, huge puddle!

get it changed for piece of mind and do the slave cylinder while you are there

Does the intire pedal box have to be removed in order to change the clutch master cylinder?

Thanks.

Much thanks, just placed the order.
Now the wait.
Is it safe to drive with the leak as long as there is fluid in the container?

I had the same problem about a month ago. Placed an order for the two cylinders and the next day on my way to work I pressed the clutch down, a puddle appeared below my foot and I had no clutch... Im guessing it sucked in a load of air and decided to dump the fluid. but its all fixed now :)

Thanks for the help guys. Could my fault with the clutch master cylinder cause notchy gears as the clutch is not depressing properly? As, sometime i have notchy gear even while its warm.
