I can't see the turbo being faulty. They either work or they don't. If it was damaged and ineffecient you'd get black smoke due to lack of air and you'd notice a loss of torque from under 2000rpm.

If this isn't happening and there are no untoward noises from it, cutting out under full throttle (usually only above 3000rpm) is usually due to a fuel supply problem with this engine. (In tank pump, under bonnet pump, a leaking injector, sticking HP pump control solenoid)

A Tu3 will place extra demands on the fuel system so if you do have a fuel supply issue, the cutting out will be worse with a Tu3 fitted. If it is a turbo problem, then the Tu3 will show up any lack of air as more smoke in the exhaust.

hows about the diesel filter under back wheelarch and how easy to do??

The Hp pump solenoid is attached to the end of the Hp pump and regulates the fuel pressure. I have heard of the seal failing causing reduced fuel pressure, starting problems and cutting out under load.

I don't know whether all Td4s have an under bonnet low pressure pump (ealy 75/Zts did) but if the in tank pump has failed, the under bonnet one starts to fail if it has to do all the 'work'.
Usually there will be a fault code logged - "low side fuel pressure plausibility" and it get noisy.

Just read through all this again, have you checked the operation of the vane linkage on the side of the turbo as I said before ? If you havent then you need to or do a live data display and monitor boost pressure.Think you will find that under high loads/revs that it is overboosting,so the Ecu will cut fuelling to kill the boost. This is typical of one of these turbo's where the linkage falls apart or jams inside.Seen it on TD6's as well.A dying LP pump usually causes poor or non starting.
BTW Ron,you wont see Lambda sensors uesd in Diesels as they always run with an excess of oxygen. The move toward closed loop control of compression ignition engines is using glow plug tip deflection to monitor flame travel in the combustion chamber.

You'll have to eat those words!

MY 2007 X-type 2.0D (euro iv) has one!

They are fitted now, to control the egr valve instead of the ecu using the maf sensor.

Are you sure it is an oxygen sensor not a temp sensor, none of the oxy sensors made so far or talked about in technical papers I have read would give any benefit in a diesel.I can see the benefit of a fast reacting temp sensor to help with EGR control as the gas temp would be close enough to live to be of value to the Ecu in EGR valve control. But not for closed loop fuelling as I said before,as there is not the need to try to achieve Lambda as in a petrol engine. The glow plug tip deflection I mentioned earlier is measured via piezo crystals - their output can be used to "see" flame travel and then control injection,in a closed loop manner.
Interested to know more about what is fitted to your X type, can you post photos please?

Ron who gives a monkey's what your 2007 X-type WTF ever has got! This is a LAND ROVER forum that's "4 um" for Land Rovers. (chuckling)

Runs as sweet as a nut now you've worked your magic on it. Drove it back on gas. It misses every now and again when idling but i'm putting down to the gas and the crappy gas kit. He's over the moon mate job done thanks again see you soon. Yer let us have a pop a they muntjac, I'll fill yer freezer.
