As above, broken spring, or possibly top or bottom mounting failed, I.E. rotted away - if it isn't obvious from looking under the arch, then I suggest the bottom mounting, on the axle tube has, er, "left the building" so to speak.....

Cant see anything, had a good feel about and had pry bar in and nothing seems lose.

Have you got a hi lift jack?
Or block under the tow ball to lift the body away from the top of the spring(just to make sure the top coil is not broke)

Yes both are missing, that cant be the problem can it ? o_O
Carn't 'elp! Springs would compress too far, possibly, and smackin' the bits an pieces against the chassis won't do nowt any good.
+1^^^^^
Just take em off and compare 'em. they isn't expensive!

Had another good look and its worse then I thought, didn't really think it would be springs as they are only a year old.
Think its the body mount rusting away  don't think this is an easy fix, so better get cracking and get my Defender Rebuild through MOT and on the road then decide what to do with this.

Thanks Mate, I Had 2 choices once my Defender is on the road, 1 sell the disco or 2 Start a Rebuild on it, think the choice is made now number 2, Unless I can see what I can get for it as it is, it has a lot of good parts on it, full suspension shocks and springs only a year old, diff guards, heavy duty steering bars winch bumper, rock sliders ect, ect . Might be worth a few quid to the right person. its a 2 door too.

Choose 2 and you probably need to buy a welder and practice:)

I know was Thinking that myself. Might put it up for sale first, if I get decent offers for it will let it go. if not then I suppose its somthing to keep me busy in the next couple of years, it's only took me 2 and half to do the Defender :D.
