Mine were making a hell of racket about six months ago - stuck a cheapo set in and they both failed within a few months going over a cattle grid (nuts facing outwards btw). N/s had about 1/8th" play at the top ball joint end, o/s about 1/2"!
Manned up and and bought a Bearmach set - not much more expensive, but of a different quality altogether. The old ones were a swine to remove - the threads had corroded and the C*inese soluble steel top nuts both had to be cut through with a Dremel as they rounded off in the spanners. The Bearmachs were 17 tops, 19 lowers with 15 flats both ends. Did the roll bar bushes too, and the Hippo is now riding nicely with no more sounds like WW3 from the front end.
Lesson learned.
