Wired in some DRL's today along with a headlight upgrade/rewire. All is working ok except the dim of DRL's when sidelights/main dip lights are used.
I followed the diagram on the relay/controller but confused about the white wire going to the Width Lamp.
Blue and yellow was teed to the appropriate side light +ve feed.
The white, well, I wasn't sure so tagged it to the headlight dip feed.....
Anyone point me in the right direction? What the hell is a width lamp?

Mmmmm, so Width Lamp is the same as side lamp, but they already have a wire going to the side lamp (right and left)?

I looked up on line width lamps and that's the answer I got I was thinking before I looked it was earth return like on trailer socket

I was trying to work out the logic. If there is a +ve on either of the side lamp wires (yellow or blue) i assumed this would trigger something in the controller to dim the DRL's or turn them off.
I wired the width lamp wire to the dip headlight feed and assumed if that was the trigger to dim or switch off the DRL's it would work also.....Unfortunately it doesn't!
I think I have a bit more digging to do......

I went to the site I bought them from and after a bit of looking found the following.
I can't understand why you would take the red back to the battery, that would mean the controller is live all the time, i picked up a switched live, perhaps thats throwing it!
Looking at the diagrams I've wired it up correctly but it doesn't work!

Could it be like a car stereo you have to lives one to batt permanent and an ignition live (white) may be I going to look on you tube

Followed your lead and looked at a few YT clips.
I'm wondering if its either white to dip light feed OR the others to the side lights but not both.....
May have to try and find some time tomorrow to have a play!

Feckity feck, disconnected the blue and yellow, left the white still there but the connector has now come off the back of the halogen bulb. Tried it again and it still doesn't work.....looks like the headlight will need coming out again and a more in depth investigation will take place but not today.............sod it, cider o'clock :beer2:

V8Geoff, think i've cracked it.
Disconnect the blue and yellow wire that i wired to the side lights. White wire connected to the live feed for the dip beam. When engine running DRL's light up. Switch side lights on and DRL's remain the same brightness. Switch main lights on and DRL's brightness reduces by about 30%. This is possibly illegal as I believe they need to dim when side lights come on, if this is the case just take the white wire from the dip beam feed and tee it to the live of the side light.
