2002 1.8l 3 dr freelander, above the rear fog lights switch there is a blanking switch plate behind it is a wiring connection is this for the front fogs? and if so where is the other end of the wire

Nope, the switch position is for cruise control, and had a little symbol like a motorway bridge over it. The front fog lights have a little panel all to themselves which fits into the recess just above the "glovebox" under the steering wheel, which could then take up to 4 (I think) additional switches.

theres loads in my 3 door.. I'll count them tomorow but im sure theres more vacant than in use.
