good evening to you all and hope you all had a good Christmas i am having some trouble with the plugs under the drivers seat my original plug from the vehicle has a white wire with red white with green stripe and 3 plain black stripe , whit wire with orange stripe .
now the new seats that i have put in have a load more the new seat has memory seat and rest of stuff you would find what i would like to know is what wires make it go up /down back / forwards as norm not bothered about memory please help if you can a match is looking good at the moment :flame:
many thanks for looking

Bugger, just noticed it's a Classic, ignore my previous posts. You need the seat ECU for the Classic or you can make up your own relay assembly and wire to the switches and motors.

yep its going to be a pain in the butt going from a multi plug of wires down to about 6 it's finding out what colours do what so god knows what's what

The problem you have is that memory seats have completely different wiring to non-memory seats and the switches are different too. The memory seat loom also includes wiring for the door mirrors.

You will either need a memory seat ECU and loom or you'll need to get non-memory seat switches and loom. An alternative may be to build your own switches, all you'll need are a couple of switches and some relays and the appropriate wire and maybe some connectors.

hi ya
i have the old seat that i took out and replaced them with the memory ones so is it a case of nip and tuck as they say and choose what wires are what , if you have a diagram of i would be grateful it's the green plug that worries me where will that go any help gratefully appreciated

You just need to locate the switch wires and the motor wires with a meter, forget the rest. The switches are not man enough to driver the motors direct so you operate relays with the switches and the motors with the relays.

i have the old wiring from the old seat with all the relays ect can i use these and the wiring loom

You should be able to use the old wiring loom and relays etc BUT you will need to swap the seat switches as well because the memory seat switches can't take 12v AFAIK. The memory seat switches have much smaller wires going to them and I suspect the internal contacts are not as heavy because they operate on 5v not 12v. The memory seat ECU uses a 5v sinal to operate relays via internal driver IC's or something like that. Non-memory seat switches use 12v to switch relays directly.

The switches will be fine for 12 volts as long as they are just switching relays. Ideally the relay coil should have a reverse polarity 1N4001 diode across the coil for arc suppression:).

hi ya
i think that it's sort of got there i did use the old switches and loom and relays from old seat with a bit of sniping here and there it works it goes up and down and back and forwards think i just need to change wires a round a bit push switch forwards and it goes backwards lol same as other switch , it moves
thanks for the help if you can think of anything else i have done wrong or should have done please let me know
