HI looking for help to solve heated seat not working drivers side ,switch lights up fuse under seat ok seems to be power to the connecter behind seat if i test it there when i switch it on but no warm seat
cheers ali

You need to check out the RAVE CD, in particular the electric diagrams.

Likely cause is a break in the heating element if power appears at the connector.

You can work out with a multimeter whether the break is in the seatback or the base of the seat, but you will need to remove the seat and strip the covers off to repair the elements. You can usually spot the break as there's a little halo of burnt foam around where the wire broke - I soldered mine back together and have had no problems since.

hi pulled seat base apart and found the break in the side bolster
tried to solder but didnt take so i cripped it ?
it works but seems to get very hot on this join??
is it because it not coverd with the white stuff that the element is made with a bit worried it might catch the seat alight
cheers ali

I wouldn't be worried by the white stuff, but I *would* be worried if that point is getting hotter than the rest of the element. That means your crimped joint is a point of high resistance, which is not good.

I managed to solder it with a hot iron, and melting loads of solder onto it before it took - if you can't manage to do this, you certainly can buy a new element while you have the seat in bits.
