I have just noticed that the driver's footwell in my 2000 P38 is wet.

I don't know if it is my imagination, or the carpet is just dirty, but if feels a bit sticky.

Anyone any ideas?

Do you have to top up your cooling system header tank at all???

Sounds like the heater matrix O rings problem. Try a search, there's lots of info about the problem and how to fix it.

I'd agree with that. Just replaced mine because i had the same problem. Does the damp make your hand smell a bit like curry when you touch it?

its your o rings mate, i didnt have time to do mine last year, so my local specialist did it for me, took them a morning, and they charged me £140, so not bad i thought.

I've got the same problem but only when the air-con is on

IPSOS, if it's only when the air con is on, you have a blocked drian tube. The exits for these are located under the vehicle either side of the gearbox, they look like those old fashined tea towel holders, a bulbous rubber with a cross cut in to it. Give these a squeeze and see if any water comes out. If not, you will need to remove the side panels from the centre console and look down near the carpet for a concertinaed pipe, pull this off from the lower end and poke some net curtain wire down to clear any blackages, this can be done with the side panels still attached but it makes it more difficult

Do it yourself 2.50 in parts from the stealers and a morning on your knees...

If its in your drivers footwell then its more then likely your o rings, the water tends to be in the passenger footwell if its your drain blocked.

Of course do check the drains first as its an easy free fix

Having done mine, I would estimate about an hour to do another one. Piece of cake - O rings are standard. (22 id x 2.5 from memory - dont quote me ! )

Hi all

On my knees in the drivers footwell i noticed some liquid gathering in the triangular hole on the centre column. Is this likely the o-rings?

I also have a problem with the centre blend motor. Would it be easier to do them all together?

Any help much appreciated.

You can do the o rings without removing all the centre console it is trickier but possible. But if you have to do the blend motor it would be wiser to both at the same time.
