Need a bit of advice from the whizz-kids!! On the last couple of cold days I get a 'driver door open' message even though its shut, clears after a time but a bloody nuisance as I sometimes have my shotgun with me and I can't lock the vehicle. Suspect somethings frozen but don't know where/how the door lock mechanism works. Any ideas ?

Check all doors are really closed.
If the warning persists then start searching/saving, the courtesy light switches (doors closed) are part of the door locking mechanism.

Could be a broken wire in the door to frame bundle?

Definitely is drivers door, at times this is only door that was opened. Can't see any signs of doorswitch as on other vehicles so come to the conclusion the mechanism is in the door, might try removing the trim for a shufti but it hasn't happened since last report even though temp is freezing.

which freelander is this ?
on the freelander 1, there was a common door open light, which would come on if any of the doors, tailgate or bonnet were open. if this is so, doesn't necessarily have to be the door you opened. if the wire comes off the bonnet switch, will show open even if you've not had the bonnet up etc.
