Oh Darn,

last weekned fixed the diff, left it at my old mans, was going to collect on Monday. So today he called me to say Oooopppss, cutting the lawn it threw as stone into the drivers side window. one smashed window. Had to laugh.

So, question time, I see that there is 4mm and 5mm , does anyone know if this change happened at the same time as the change to push button door handles? ( VIN number no use as the body is a TD5,but chassis is 1987, I think the doors are TD5 as well but not sure ) If the change in glass thckness coincided with the change to push button it makes ordering a replacement easier, if not then it will have to wait until I go over to measure the thickness

Also from my research so far, it appears LH and RH side are the same glass, or am I missing something?

Finally, when changing the glass is there anything else i will need?

Cheers

Well ,

4mm glass it is, strange that all the places I look do not show a different part number for LH or RH. yet the ones I have are different ( the secursiv tempered glass badge is ont the inside ) does anyone knwo if I need to find a LH or RH one does it make any real world difference?

Cheers

Righty Ho,

found a replacement, took the door apart, and.....

to my surprise the second hand window i have has a different guide bar system on the bottom of the window compared to the broken one, old broken one is a single guide strip for the rollers attached by plastic brackets to the glass, 2nd hand replacement is two guide strips bonded to the glass.

whe I try this one of the rollers comes out of the guide strip at the highest and lowest points.

so, now at least I can make it work in the short term, but what glass do I need to order to replace it when I get the time. Anyone know what the correct part number is?

cheers

I wonder if yours is from a model with lecy windows?

Hi Marmaduke.

Thanks, that pic shows what I have fitted this evening. But I have the window winder, although it is held differently as it uses a spring clip to hold the handle on the splines that drive the mech.

One of those times when you wish you had bought a straight one rather than a bitsa. LOL

Cheers

I know this thread is old but do you know where I can get a passenger tinted door glass for a 2001 electric window defender?
