I consulted disco td5 manual. the rod at the front of wheels is called drag link and another one behind wheels track rod or tie rod, I am confused someone used those terms together. I need to replace driver side track rod end ball joint (behind front wheel). What part number fits it? I aware there are LH and RH threads TRE, but not sure which one is correct since I can not check threads for all threads screwing in track rod. I see the track rod end is grooved. I suppose this is clampped point for vice. What size of vice (Newton Meter) is enough to hold up? e.g. https://www.toolstation.com/minotaur-engineers-swivel-base-vice/p80447?

If you need to replace the tracking rod? The part number is: QHG000040

If its just the nuts that you need! They are M12 locking nuts?

Track rod end QFS000010 - OE Number:

Length [mm]: 95, 25,5
Thread Size 1: L M18X1.5
Thread Size 2: M12X1.5

You will adjust the length when you fix to the car!
However, when fixed to the car! You will need to go to a local garage to get the wheel alignment corrected !

Can I adjust the length according to the existing track rod end length?

That is what I would do, infact I did. Still most likely to be wrong though as you are only presuming it's correct in the first place.
By the way the one we bought had a different thread at each end so make sure the nylon lock nut is the correct one.

I removed both rod ends by 18 mm socket. What size is different from 18 mm? Replacing assembly is much easier than a TRE ball joint, it saves me time and effort for your info.

The thread was different on each end not the nut socket size. Don't know why but it was, Unipart make rather than Lemforder.

I need rear long arm TRE assembly, from ebay photos, it is hard to tell front TRE from rear one. Sellers usually don't give demension, I measured my rear long arm one including ball joints is around 1.32m. I found QHG000040 Delphi is 0.98 m. TIQ000010 looks more fitting. But no length/height info.

When I replace mine I did both the Drag link and tie rod, I then took it to a tyre place for tracking to get it all checked, but as my car was so old, 23 years it was not in the computer they could not do it, so set mine uo with a string line, there is a detailed explanation on how to do it if you read in this forum

My Landy failed mot for knuckle lower ball joints. After mot retest, I would have wheels alignment. I did it long time ago at ATS, it seemed they press tyres from both sides, I don’t know if they adjusted track rod bars.

The disco has two adjustable ball joint one on the drag link, and one on the tie bar the second one on the tie bar is not always adjustable, so you need to replace the completed tie bar if one side fails
