Hi, got an issue with my 88' 90 Defender. When driving normally I have no problems, but when decelerating by just taking foot of the gas or taking it out of gear and just letting it roll to a slow down I get a loud noise from the front left it seems to be which sounds like a loud metal to metal rattling. Accelerate of stop fully it goes away...Any one got any clues ??? Cheers.....Rex

Hi
Did you ever find out what the problem was?

I seem to be suffering the same on deceleration.

cheers
Kev

If it makes that noise driving forward on lock id go for the cv joints on your half shafts
allso check your front prop UJs :)

I got a similar problem with what sounds like sheet metal rattle when i take my foot of the accelerator after going above 40mph.
It does not matter what gear im in 3rd 4th or 5th!!
Doesn't happen below 40.
UJs were suspect but the garage changed the propshaft as the yoke was also suspect but noise is still there!!!
More anoying than anything but i would hate to be making it worse and causing damage.
Cant really strap anyone under whilst going along.
Any ideas??
