Oh Bob,if you really want to make a simple job awkward have you considered a blindfold and boxing gloves?So I’m making a hilarious meal of this...
decided to test my airbag and line so inflated it -yes, off the vehicle and, predictably, it’s blown the plastic end clean off the rubber.
does anyone have any tips for coaxing the bugger back on ? Or is it time to fork out for (another) new bag ?

They can also happen if you jack up the chassis without jacking the axles at the same time.Separated airsprings only happen if the wrong shocks have been fitted. Front shocks fitted on rear for instance.

..... or if you take the airspring off the car entriely and then ram a compressed air gun into the collet and pull the trigger, just to "test" it.

Ended up testing my bladder control.
Really?The shocks stop the axle from extending to far, thats the whole idea or as wammers said fronts have been fitted to rear as they are longer.
i have had my axles hanging many a time no issues.

Sounds like a rookie mistake unlikely to be made by the people involved. Oh well, another one to note, I guess..... and no, I'm not going to go out and try it for myself. I've changed the bellows before and a fair amount of swearing was involved....... Unless as said earlier front shocks have been fitted to the rear.

Had a bag pop it's seal while off-road, only to find the front shock had dropped its bottom thread out and allowed the airbag to quickly pop off and reseal when the car came down on the stops. By the time we'd got back to the tent it had pumped back up... Second hand shock for £17 on site saved the day. Until I broke a rear one in the same manner...... Free shocks forever!!!
