My 200 TDi's gearbox is crunching badly into second no mater how carefully I drive. it also occaisionally crunches into forth too. Can the gear box be rebuilt at home or am I better off getting a recon box?

Are there any modifications that can be made to prevent the problem re-occouring? or an upgraded gear box that will bolt on with little or no modification?

will I have the R380 or the LT77 in mine (L reg) are the two interchangable?:rolly:

is reverse left and forward (LT77) or right and back (R380)? They are not interchangeable.

Ashcrofts do a good exchange box with improvements fitted. about £400 if memory serves me right.

Mines an LT77 then cheers matey £400's not too bad especially not if it's improved. Is the R380 better and would that fit?

d on forget the price is about 440 pounds plus fitting, so the total is about a grand. unless you do it your self.

Put up with it. It's not a sign of imminent gearbox failure so save yourself a load of money by adjusting your driving to minimise crunching and just live with it.

I agree mate just put up with it, mine does the same, changing the transmission fluid to ATF helped quite a bit aswell as changing the way i drive it.

If you have si's away, make sure you go get it from him, don't let him tek it to you, you'll never get it.

the fool will run out of fool on the way there
