Rebuilt the landy, was looking to get the head skimmed, anyway as mentioned the head had internal cracks so I put on an other head, slight problem, ordered a 3 hole gasket, thicker, think its not as responsive, candidate for a remap I think

Decreased compression, decreased performance !
True but calculate the compression change; its not going to make a noticeable difference at all, unless of course you are looking for dyno performance increments on a blue printed motor.

I hear you Bantam, just don't feel as sharp acceleration, ??

Maybe the head castings were slightly different? It's amazing how a few hours with a rotary burr to smooth out casting imperfections and opening up the ports to match the gaskets can really help air flowing through the engine.

Aye well it's on now, not going near it again, saying that struggled to start this morning, felt like a choked fuel filter ??

Talked to my mate he reminded me that a few of the glow plug caps were brittle and broke when we removed the head, it was -3° they might need taped on I'll check it tomorrow.

Fuel filter changed today, sorted, .new beast, pulling strong, obviously filter was choked another part of the problem appeared to be an over tightening of the drain cap which spread the o ring and was allowing air into system, fuel filter has been on a while, all other filters and oil changed at head swap.
