@marjon

found the wiring diagram, makes more sense I feel when seeing the wiring diagram

But see what u mean now , ref the signal, I’ll see what else I can find as it’s bugging me as well

The control module provides a 5V reference voltage to the pressure sensor and monitors the return signal voltage from the sensor.

As I said so it doesn’t go back to earth, problem is which side is reference and which is return? Which side would diagnostics read? The pressure side which to me is the return signal?

saved file for reading in the am:)

Edit sorry last post crossed will take a look with interest. I see 3 wires.

no worries and plse see what u think, great learning process as always where we pass things like this back and forth

so my thoughts for now are , it has 2 x positive wires , or a single positive really , input to the sensor and output from the sensor , plus a ground , so as there’s not 5 Vdc at the reservoir pressure sensor would that then mean a bad ground , or bad connection from the ecu or at the pressure sensor

indeed agree ,ref diagnostics i assume would read the return signal, but then thinking if that’s the case the Low Vdc could be correct if there’s hardly any pressure if it monitors the return voltage

my head hurts, lol, so indeed see where ur coming from, at least will know more once the compressor has been fixed, so then if the pressure voltage increases we will then know diagnostics reads the return signal and not the 5Vdc input

later my friend :)

Was bugging me as it was going over and over in my head , hope that makes more sense and indeed think ur right u know ref the Vdc

will be great to then see via diagnostics what the Vdc reads

Ok guys im back on it, got all the connectors and electrics off the pump except for the following grey connector which i cant work out how to dissconnect? im sure ive done them before but i dont want to risk breaking anything at this stage! help please

Have you tried pushing it in towards the compressor then whilst still pushing pull the gray bit towards the elbow and pulling the whole thing off, if that makes sense.

Hi Brian, yes tried both directions, its the same as a ducato fuel filter quickfit, and that pushes away from the pipe and it releases, maybe this is just so stuck! i managed to unscrew the metal pipe out of the pump body so will address at a later stage,
Thanks for your input Brian,

Right Guys, so the pump is off and ive taken the air drier filter off and the following was found, "see pictures"

For your connection have you tried to push the whole thing on and then twist the grey piece then pull the grey piece Toward the black piece? Something like that:)

As above about pics.

sorry to say it but that looks messy. Pretty sure you will find that the compressor is in need of a rebuild, then possibly face the hunt for white powder in the system. I got mine early and the desiccant was still whole although mostly white.

So I have just finished cleaning the compressor and drier, it was in a state but now its gleaming, stripped it completely down including the motor, bushes all good and no probs with the windings etc, (inside motor was gleaming), ive bench tested it and had to fight to keep my finger over the outlet, lots of air gushes and whistling!! so im hoping the pump will now be strong enough to lift the car! im going to refit tomorrow and test, i should imagine it will take a few minutes to refill the system? but if no problems i will still order a service kit and refurb the complete pump, im hoping there isnt much, or any powder in the system!! fingers crossed

I think im going to find a LR 110, after 26 years service and driving them in many countries cant fault them! but then again i did start off in the series 3s! or maybe our mechanics were just very good!

Update..... put the newly cleaned compressor back on the vehicle, started up and watched the gallery PSI pressurise to 220 psi then a woosh and dropped back to 38psi, i checked the compressor which was quite hot! so gave it 5 mins then restarted the vehicle, the pump ran for 30 seconds then settled, at that point i raised the suspension to off road which it did without a problem, then back to normal height, and it seems to be working fine now, all codes cleared and not popping back up. initialy a panicked when i heard the "woosh" but i think this is just the excess pressure escaping after leveling??? so i now guess its running normally???

I have set her at normal height and have measured the corners, so will leave overnight to gauge if there are any leaks, but as i said earlier she has never dropped before so fingers crossed my problem was just a dirty un serviced compressor! maybe this should be listed as a semi regular service item?

Keep you posted

Good work:)

Think the whooshing is just the venting of the pressure at the compressor once the system is up to pressure and compressor shuts off.

Hope it’s still up in the morning for you:)

have you actually got any desiccant in it? If so not sure it would be a good idea to run it long like that as you could get moisture in the system:(

Ive put the old back in it just for the test, it was still solid and most of the "caked" area was in the pump head end of the filter (which i thought was strange) but it did look like errosion more than powdered desiccant so maybe id had a water leak on the pump maybe, i did have to do some wading in the Dorset floods thge other month?? but yes i agree with you and have ordered a service kit for the air drier filter.

If exhausts back through the drier if I remember right, something to do with it removes the moisture.
