Hi guys

Can anyone help me out with some advice please?

I've recently fitted a new clutch plate, housing, release bearing, master and slave cylinder to my 109 S3.
I took it for a test drive and when changing down, I find that I'm having difficulty and I'm having to double press the clutch to get the gear.
I've bled the system using a 'one man bleeding kit' ( twice) but I'm wondering if perhaps there must still be air in the system.

I'm hoping I haven't stuffed up the installation !

Does it improve if you pump the pedal?

Yes. It seems to. 3 or 4. Get progressively worse the more I use it.

OK did you change the flexi pipe ? for around £5 it is worth eliminating. When fitted bleed again, try just gravity bleeding it always works for me. When you have done that recheck the master cylinder push rod clearance, it needs around 1/16" (1.5mm in new money).

Flexi pipe? Where's that? I can only see the rigid pipe from master to slave. Landy is off the road now anyway. I think the fuel injector pump is stuffed. Not happy [emoji22]

Should be a rigid pipe from master and seperate rigid pipe from slave, these are connected via a flexi hose at the back of the engine bay

What makes you think the injector pump is U/S ? They stand a lot of abuse and do not usually die suddenly. May just need to be bled properly.

He did a thread and its got the same leak mine did at one of the fittings going into the pump (i think, he didnt reply so not sure)

Did you remove the slave cylinder and put it back on upside down? Difficult to bleed if the nipple is at the bottom.

The turning around of the slave cylinder hopefully won't take too long…I can do that while waiting for the head gasket to turn up. Mmmm forgot how fun LR ownership can be. [emoji10]

You're not the first one to do that! There is a Land Rover mod for remote bleeding that gets the nipple a bit more accessible but the link above looks like a good idea.....
