Hi I am new to this forum.
I have a 96 p38.
The problem is that I washed the truck and all was well for a day.
But the strangest thing happened.( may not be related to problem)
The front and back doors will open from the outside but not from the inside
I have tried to lock and unlock but the same thing.
They all open fine from the outside.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be?

The rear doors could have the child locks on. The front doors could have broken pull cables. If you sit in the car and superlock it non of the doors will open from inside.

what do you mean by "superlock it" ?

On standard lock (one press of fob) interior passive alarm is not active. So you can leave a dog in car without tripping alarm. Superlock (two presses of fob) activates interior passive alarm, with that set no doors can be opened from inside. If someone breaks a window to reach in and unlock the door it will not open.

Door cables are all fine.
Child locks are not on.
If it were super locked, I would not be able to open the doors from the out side and I can open all of them.
I cannot open any of them from the inside , only from the outside.
There is power to all of the doors and the locks, lock and un lock. Just cannot open any door from the inside.
This seems very strange to me.

Internal door pulls are all mechanically operated, they do not unlock anything they are just catch releases. I find it hard to believe they have all failed at the same time.

Well that is exactly what happened.
It has to have something to do with the electronics some how, but I am completely baffled.
If it had something to do with the electric manual key lock, What could it be???
Could it have something to do with the micro switch in the drivers door??
Any suggestion will help

Thanks

As i said earlier the only thing that cuts the operation of the mechanical inner and outer catch releases is double or super locking. In single lock the outer door handles are disconnected but the inner ones still work. In super lock both inner and outer handles are disconnected. With the car unlocked both inner and outer handles are connected, unless the rear door child locks are activated, which disconnects the rear inner releases. There is no electrical connection to the mechanical releases other than the micro switch on the lock cam that tells the BECM if the cam is on half latch or full disengaged.

Ok, well I will try to reset the super lock.
Is it possible that if it is double locked, that it will affect the inner handles and not the outer?
According to this information, that is the only thing that makes sense.

Super lock affects inside and out. I still think the links are off.

You said earlier that all the cables were attached and unbroken. How do you know that, have you stripped the inner handles and checked?

I want to thank you for your help.
The problem was a combination of things.
The first being that I loaned a friend that knows nothing about these cars mine and I think that he must have super locked him self in the car and freaked out tugging on the door and breaking the inner handle.
Passenger side was unhooked and the back the lock was jammed.
I have not had problems with this truck for ever.
Lend it out 1 time and, well you know.
Lesson learned. Never loan out your old Range Rover.

Thanks Again

Cheers
