i have a 51 plate freelander td4 and both passenger door locks have stopped working from both the key fob and the button inside the car?? any ideas of why and fixing please:)

Is it both locking and unlocking that isn't working ?

Usually when the lock mechanisms fail they unlocking feature doesnt work but they still lock.

Hi,
It sounds like a similar problem to mine... I only bought mine a few days ago and the seller told me about this issue so I was aware of it. What happens is that when you unlock the car with the fob, the drivers door knob doesn't pop up. If you insert the key and turn it, it does pop up. Having said that when you get out and shut the door and then press the fob, the drivers locking knob does go down and it locks.

Any ideas...?

Mine did the same, the solenoid within the lock mechanism fails and the door no longer unlocks. Replacement of the lock mechanism is the only way to fix it.

tis indeed the solenoid. always works with the key as this is mechanical in how it drives the lock button up.

lock assemblies about £75 genuine, or £35 ish on ebay, takes about 3/4 hour to do first time, about 20 mins second time.

Not wanting to jump on the band wagon. I have recently had this problem, but with the PS door. I can press the fob and DS door unlocks, I press the fob agin to unlock the PS door, but it doesn't work. Is this a case of a new solenoid too.

yeah they all lock when the fob is used to unlock but both passenger door dont open when using the fob or key,
is there a GUIDE to changing the lock and is it an easy job
