:( Went to unlock the range rover tonight and all the doors unlocked accept the passanger door. The door pin moves up and down but has no affect on the lock itself. I cannot even get the door open to have a look, anf there is no key hole on the door.

Anybody shed some light on the problem????:(

its probably the mechanism that needs a refurb, take door skin off, carefully cut the plastic cover(replace this or a gale will blow through door at speed!) put yr hand inside and take off the two plugs and put them on a few times to see if its a poor connection. try it, if not remove the loch mechanism and then strip it down via the small screws on the body. once that cover is off, plug it back in and lock and unlock with the fob whilst messing with the little workings inside. it should free them off and they should begin to work correctly. then pack with grease, i used vaseline and replace!

i suspect it could be the plug that has only one wire in it that has come off though as this is common!

If your door will not open then for obvious reasons, you can’t get the door card off, you will need to remove the weather strip from the outside top edge of the door. You need something like a welding rod to hook the door latch to manually open the passenger door, as long as it hasn’t burnt out the motor after being super locked.
If you locked it without super locking, then you are in luck.
There is some info on my site using the link below. It shows some pictures of the door lock actuator so you will know what you are fishing around for.
Once the door is open you can then crack on with the lock actuator.

If all else fails, because of the large panel gaps you can use a hacksaw blade,(After protecting the paint work.) to saw through the striker loop.Nigh on impossible to get the trim off with the door closed and sawing the striker off does no other damage.I've even welded them together again for tight garages who want it to work for the smallest possible cost.

all the door unlocked so he can get in, it'd be safer to kick the door panel in than hacksaw the door, it will also be possible to re lock the car too in the evnt of not bieng able to fix it!

I dont understand your comment, have you priced up a door trim lately ? Where did I say anything about hacksawing the door ? As he said the other doors will open - this gives even more room to cut the striker loop.

went to my local LR dealer today and they told me that i would have to cut the striker. seems a bit brutle but i ordered a new striker today at the cost of £2.90. if only they would have put a key hole on the other side. lol.

i havnt priced one up but i got 4 off ebay for £10 and they were/are in mint condition!! i refered to the part when you said about avoiding damage to the paintwork! it would be cheaper to replace a door card than have the door/frame sprayed wouldnt it?

i trust the op has tried the door handle inside the door, stupid thought but just to make sure!

What happened to lifting the cdl latch with a welding rod and then releasing the door with the interior release cable latch on the door lock actuator?
It works every time as long as it hasn’t been super locked
No cutting, no braking, no sawing

Maybe where I said "If all else fails" right at the start.

Hi, Is this operation also possible on the driver side to? I have all doors locked no way of gettin into the car, I know now that problem lies in the lock.

Thank you all for your help, managed to get the door open this morning with the key turning it hard towards open, it in turn reset let me start the car and have a drive, Ive stripped the door and lubricated all the bit and pieces, just gotta re sync my remote which I have been trying all afternoon, think I might need to take to Jamesons to get them to have a look.

What is the cdl catch and the actuator?
