hello
i've a 2004 disco
the problem i've got is the doors lock ok and the alarm works fine but the the remote will not open the drivers door lock it makes a noise but stays locked and will only open with a key
if it is the lock where is the best place to get it
thanks

mine does this.. i just put up with it now... as taking the door apart to get the lock out is a proper puzzle..
i think it's the actuator on the locking, squirting WD40 in all the holes around the lock usually sorts it for a few months...

could be a spring on the lock, the actuator only goes part of the way and the spring finishes off, so if the spring has gone then it wont open.

If you take the door liner off you can get to the lock to see, just make sure you have some spare clips to get the card back on after as they do tend to brake.

As it's a Disco 2 it dosent have the problem of door lock springs thats a D1 thing. Different lock and now combined with the actuator so its a replacement lock job, thats progress.

its not that bad to get to the lock on a d2 but it does mean taking most of the door apart (can be done in a hour) a new lock is about £60 from the dealer but there on ebay all the time new and used

sory i did not read it properly

Hi James, I only read that info a few months ago and now always look for the model of disco when the lock question comes up, it's one of the 700 'improvements' the D2 has over the D1. We live and learn or I do. :)

Regards
