The drivers side door lock on my D2 TD5 is broken.

The key just spins left and right with no resistance. I stripped the door card off and took a look, it seems I have something missing, as I can see the back of the lock barrel and nothing is attached, from the rave files, it looks like there should be a long rod from the key barrel to the door actuator ??

I've checked in the bottom of the door and there's no parts lying there, so someone has been in previously.
Do I need a complete new lock ?

Yes, there should be a long pin arrangement from the barrel to the lock actuator.
In most cases you would need a new barrel lock, but fortunately @neilly has tackled this problem quite successfully by all accounts:

OK thanks, trouble is on mine it's all missing so nothing to model the replacement on. I'll look for a used handle assembly I guess.

I'm sure that if you PM @neilly he'll be able to give you all the measurements you need to fashion your own, if you talk to him really, really nicely, he might even have the right bits too.
He'll probably be able to give some pointers on what need to be done.
