Those microswitches are the ones I replace in any door locks I work on - for that exact reason.
In the RHF Door latches, I also upgrade the CDL switch which does the grounding for the tailgate from a 0.1A contact switch to a 5A contact switch - as I wonder if that is one of the problems over the years having the current draw of the tailgate motor go through that switch, that it burns out or at least tarnishes the contacts on that microswitch...
I haven't had the issues he had with the connector to the door latch - but as someone who does a lot of electronics, I cringed when he said he was going to tape all the wires up.... HEATSHRINK!!! if you're going to the effort of soldering them all together!
When i want a bit of entertainment i often watch You tube videos of people attempting repair things. Sometimes it absolutely hilarious. As they go about things totally arse about face thinking they are doing a good job. Well meaning but bloody hilarious.
Wam that it true, its entertainment, but it makes you cringe at the same time, his vids are like that, but if you follow them at least you know whats inside or what to expect, and then you improve on it and do it right
