Just spent an afternoon stripping and rebuilding my freelander passenger front ns door to fit an alleged working actuator which I bought from a car dismantler. My door lock was working only to lock not unlock with the fob before I started. Well what I noticed in the part I got from the dealer was that it had eight pins on the connector whilst mine had only seven dont know if this makes a difference? Anyway I fitted it and tried it ! nothing absolutely nothing ! Was I ****ed off, is there something I am missing does this pin difference make a difference, does anything need to be rest or is it just a dud unit ? Help required asap.

Have you tested it with a multimeter to see if currents going where it's supposed to? Locks are little feckers, got my tailgate seen to today. So far so good.

I would say the different number of pins would make quite a difference, to be honest.

Personally I wouldn't trust a 2nd hand unit. Get a new one. At least you know it will work, and will be right for your vehicle. As in, it will have the right connector on it;)

Yes you are right however 2 university graduations in a row with photographs dinners etc and one with three return flights to the main land from N.Ireland really eats at the linnings of the pockets ! so I will have to back burner it for a while but thanks anyway to all.
