I was having a look at fitting these today. Encountered two problems:
1 those door cards are a trick to remove aren't they!

2 Can anyone advise how I wire these in. There are no door light switches as the ECU activates the interior light based on signals from the door locks [according to the Haynes manual].

Do I run wires from the interior light itself?
:scratching_chin:

There will be a wire from the switch to the ECU - could you route this wire via your lamp? Not sure if the extra current would cause problems for the ECU.

I was still thinking of door switches to activate the interior light, but no there are none. It's all done by the ECU.

Any auto electricians out there?

Must be a door switch somewhere as it beeps when you lock and leave the door open

The door switch is part of the latch assembly.
Either run power to each door and add a switch or take a feed from the interior light circuit. If you are using led lamps then the extra draw will be negligible especially if you change your other lamps to led as well.

also planning on doing courtesy lights, my drawing runs a feed from the interior light circuit so I can turn them off when I go "stealth mode" and have to open the doors

I've fitted these to my own freelander, I fed a fused live into each door and it was earthed out on the door switch, as you say the interior lights earth through the ECU so its not advisable to do, the wire was pink and white if I remember rightly and because the interior light comes on with the doors opening these light come on with the interior light.
