Hope you're having a great weekend! Its snowing over here.

I am looking for a replacement LHD RH front door latch assembly for my early 1996 P38 and according to this parts manual below it should be ALR6958. However on paddocks it suggests FQJ103240 is correct and it is in fact very difficult to locate a new or used ALR6958.

Can anyone confirm what the correct part number I need is please, or whether ALR6958 has been superceeded by FQJ103240? Pic of my door latch at bottom.

My VIN is: TA328960

For what is worth I changed one on a RHD RH (95 vintage) and the part supplied by Bearmach against my VIN wasn’t the same as the one I removed. The main difference was like yours the connectors are on the latch assembly while on the one supplied were on short leads. The multi connector fitted as it should but the single wire connector needed a small mod. I suspect your issue is in the same boat. I might have a picture of the difference somewhere, I’ll have a look and post it if I have.

Here’s the picture, there was one other difference now I see the pic, the one supplied had a small arm which I had to remove, top left in the pic.

The latches are all basically the same. I had some with the extra bit of metal that needed removing. I suspect they are actually MGF latches?

The single wire is the microswitch ground via the outstation. The 6-pin plugs are simply different connector locations, but the door loom length might vary, so some cars might need the loom extending to reach.

MGF latches from the same year have the same motors but are much, much cheaper on the Bay. The motors just clip in and out. On earlier locks like yours with the single wire I think the microswitches do too, although I am struggling to remember. Easy job. Marty UK knows where to get new microswitches.

Incidentally, that single black wire csn catch the window mechanism if it hasn't been clipped in placed properly and break inside so worth checking continuity with an old fashioned lamp, something that draws a bit of current.

The black wire is the ground and it's MGTF .IMMIC though there probably all the same.

Cheers guys, the door locks have been working ok over the past couple of days. I still have my door card off and am monitoring it. I´ve ordered a used door lock to replace it...but who knows what condition it is in.

Realy, is it possible to get the microswitches separate? That would be superb, I couldn´t find them online.Good idea regarding the MGF motors. I´ll send Marty a DM. Cheers!
