when I do a service I always put a drop of oil on the key and push it in and out a couple of times, even though they have a dust protector they are not good and dirt will get in hence the oil

The only reason that I saw this message is because it notified me in my hotmail account. Have not been on this website for a couple of years. Didn't get it sorted in the end. I spent a lot of money getting the head gasket repaired soon after that (petrol engine). I was often topping water up and then I noticed the mayonnaise on the coolant cap, so I had it repaired before it gave up (nipped it in the bud) Then I sold the car within a couple of years later. We just used the key fob, as didn't want to spend anymore money on getting it sorted. Bought a nearly new Honda CRV EX (top of the range) a couple of years ago to replace it and is a much better vehicle in my opinion. We just used the alarm key fob in the end...
