Here is a little tip if the exterior handle doesnt work on your disco and you dont think its the spring (I.E you dont have to pull the catch up to open the door)
Take the door card off and then look at the back of the exterior door lever. You should see 2 nuts and a plate holding it on. Undo these and remove the lever. (you may have to remove the central locking solenoid first.)
Now if you look at the back of the lever you will see a long white plastic plunger and a metal lever with a spring. What happens is as you pull the handle the plunger pushes against the lever but its bending so not pushing the lever enough to flip the catch
There are probably loads of different ways to fix this but i opted for the 'padding the lever out' method and gaffer taped 2 5p's to the lever (taking the lever off the handle makes this a bit easier to do.)
Put it all back to gether and the door works fine now
