Hello everyone,

Can I please bend ears with regards to fitting courtesy light switches to a 110, which was not fitted with them out of the factory.

During my restoration project i had to replace the bulkhead, so i found one from a TD5, this bulkhead has the hole in the door pillar for the switch.

The wiring is not the issue, permanent live to the courtesy light and earth from the courtesy light to the door switches.

The problem I'm having is the door switch, its no where near the door, so when the door closes it does not push the switch in to break the circuit, and I want to fit an alarm.

before I start messing around with lumps of metal trying to bridge the gap, is there a striker off of a later 90/110 that I could buy to save time?

Are these the courtesy light switches in the bulkhead near the door hinges? I have these on mine but I then have series doors fitted. I bent a small piece of plate to 90 degrees and riveted that on. It is small enough that is does not catch on anything, including you as you get in and out, but operates the switch nicely.

My switches are in the bulkhead, Id say my switches are just below the door check strap.

Ive got so 90 degree aluminum floating around I will have a fiddle

That is where mine are, I will try and remember to take a phot this evening for you. Mine is nothing fancy and not even very tidy. It is one of those things that I did at first with a view to improve it later and make it tidier. 5 years later it is still in place!

If the doors are not made for a light then the bit of metal that is welded to the door frame will be missing. it is just a bent extension to reach the switch plunger.

2001 TD5 Hardtop, there is a 'Factory' striker fitted below the check strap.....

Ive got nothing like that, Ive just spent the afternoon with sheet metal, angle grinder and pop rivet gun...

what I came up with works but doesn't look tidy at all...

I forgot to take a picture (will do at lunch), but that sounds exactly like my solution. working is a more important than tidy!

Finally remembered to take a pic. Definitly not tidy. But it works!
