There seems to have been a spate of door and bonnet thefts recently, with that of course leading to access to personal possessions inside etc, and I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this? It does seem like anyone passing by with an Allen key in their pocket could potentially do it!!

Obvious thoughts include secure/anti-tamper Allen or Torx bolts, but adaptors for those are readily available so wouldn't stop it.

Really? That is what's hot in the streets right now? People stealing Defender bonnets and doors????
Its' getting crazy out there...

Yep! Couldn't quite believe it myself, but even if they're not being stolen, it seems all you need to get into a Landy is a 50p allen key!!!

A basic Halfords tool kit will remove 90% of parts from a Landy. The door locks can usually be opened by pretty much any key of a similar size, or a screwdriver.

Ok so supergluing ball bearings into the bolt heads is a great idea - as long as you never want to take the doors off yourself ever again!!

Pappasmurf - who are the ones who do the secure bolts & hinges?

Dont forget all the standard security bolts and bits can be bought off of ebay for a few quid.

There are some very unusual locking bolts/bits out there, so if you can find one of them you may be onto a winner.

Simplest way has to be a big dob of sikaflex over the bolt head and make smooth with the top of the hinge.

You have to remember, the people stealing them are better than you at stealing them, if they want them the only thing you can do really is slow them down.

Theft of doors and bonnets has been going on for a while now, particularly the new bonnets with the 'bulge'

If they steal my doors I could follow the trail of rust to find them again.

Mines painted a non std colour, I've often wondered if that would be enough to stop them going missing?

Sort of related, just been browsing a fb site for stolen land rovers uk wide.....jeezus it's ripe

Fill the bolt heads with silicone - seriously it actually takes for ever to get it out so a bit will fit in again but is easily doable by yourself if you wanted to take the doors off.
