Evening all, well after a brief chat with my neighbour last night I learned his 75 year old brother wanted to sell his 53 plate Freelander petrol. It has a new M.O.T. had its belts and head gasket changed, good tyres and 94.000 miles, its covered only 800 miles in the last 3 years!
"how much?" I asked. 1,000 he said, so said oh I will think about it.
So after dinner I mention it to my other half, and next thing I know I am on the auto trader, to get a feel of prices etc.....then I am on youtube watching off roading videos.......
So tonight after work, I find myself going for a test drive in the freelander, and I like it, when I get back I asked how much did your brother want again?
Well he would take £800, he said, and thats it, I bought it, and now I have a Freelander sat on my drive, thats what happened, and now I find myself on a Land Rover forum!
Weird what a brief chat with your neighbour will lead too........

Good luck with the freelander, never driven one, but have been tempted to try one, if I ever part with my d1, I might give one a go.

If you don't mind getting your hands dirty they are a great car and the 1.8 is a great engine apart from the tendency to blow head gaskets. Just keep an eye on fluid levels and if the coolant header tank has cracks around the top then replace asap. At 94k miles the VCU will probably need replaced so start searching and reading about it and then do something about it. Too many people here with sad stories of drive train failure because they ignored the VCU.
Other than that enjoy your new car, loads of help and advice here.
