I accidentally left the sunroof open whilst raining for about 4 hours
First noticed when headlights came on while on the drive.

Result was the following list

Initially could not start and no lights on dashboard, after drying out withe a fan heater and dehumidifier i got it started and left it idling for about an hour the heater luckilly was on full and the fan control worked. But here is a list of all the faults

All lights had a mind of thier own coming on and off at will
Wipers on full and the headlights came on
Headlights turned on or open the door and the washer bottle pump on
No display on HEVAC
sun roof would close when the door was closed but would not close from the switch after opening
Cruise control not working
SRS warning lamp on
Dashboard cycling through telling me that about ten fuses had blown.

After driving it up and down the motorway for 60 miles with heating on full and windows open ajar things started to come back to life
Will see what it's like in the morning but a bit worried that when the temp drops humidity might condensate again and cause problems.

Just a warning to everyone always chck your sunroof

Also makes me wonder when people have intermittent problems they could be caused by dampness, especially if the car is not used every day

damp in becm under drivers seat, crap as plugs have no weather proofing, set heating to demist with air con on it will remove cabin moisture

Yeah, i'd guessed that was the source of most of the problems.

Like most P38s my aircon doesn't work

Yep, the electrics really are a pile of s..t. As a result permenant damage so far seems to be the rear wiper, the drive has gone all limp so its just hanging down vertical. I think it has damaged the drive or motor by running on a dry surface. That was another item that ran of it's own accord

Although I love it, I have never had a vehicle that I'm so scared of locking and leaving parked when away from home. I'm not joking when I say I'm relieved every time i make it back to my driveway. I think I've been reading this board too much. I need a 'stress break' from Landyzone for a couple of weeks.

I got rid of my P38 recently and I have to say the worry of a major disaster always worried me from the day I bought it.

Before panicing the wiper arm may have come loose on the spindle-nut will need tightening if it's like most wiper motors.

Without the knowledge available to us on here I would never have bought one

You were lucky,about 7-8yrs ago a customer did the same thing over a W/E and the was a storm......
Nearly £1800 the insurance company paid me to sort it out,fried BECM etc,plus loads of other bits,it was a right old pickle.Fine now tho,with a different owner,a new engine etc,etc.

Thought it was basic sense to shut yer sunroof if it's going to rain
