So friend wanted me to disable couple things on his 08 fl2, reversing sensors and seatbelt warning etc. Thought no problem can do that, I've read engine codes for him before with Hawkeye. But as soon as I tried to enter any BCM related settings (like instrument's) on the Hawkeye it makes the bcm have a fit and throw every warning light and beep it can, its like it's shorting something out. This then makes every other ecu throw codes because it couldn't communicate with the bcm at that point. Why on earth the diagnostics would short out something on the bcm I have no idea? Is this anything common by any chance? I have no exp with freelanders. Thanks

from my limited experience with my foxwell and an 07 FL2, the whole thing is a bit clunky - new diag tool and a new manufacture for me so jury is still out as to what is clunky, fault codes flagged that have not been assigned a fault etc..
must go in and see what happens for me with the seat belt thing.
The wife never puts her belt on Much to my disgust, - it wrinkles her clothes - i have pointed out she will have a wrinkle in her face if anything should happen..

It sounds more like interactions with the module causes it not to work as normal during that period. It will work again after.

Why try to disable a seat belt warning lamp? I would be surprised if you can. Surely the fault should be fixed instead?

The only diagnostic device that I have used that could do stuff like that, was the IID tool, and that was on the D3. I don't know if it can do system modifications on the FL2, but it can definitely do some CCF mods.
