Had an air suspension until the bags split and the motor didnt fuse out ultimately resulting in a 'minor' fire half way down the M4 :violent:
Now have coils and it is soooo much better! We have a humped back bridge near home and no the suspension actually dampens it as opposed to sensing it, thinking about how to react, reconsidering its decision, then taking a tea brake before actually deploying its decided reaction by which time I was half way up the next hill causing a very unsettled ride. Was the biggest pile of useless technology the car had and a complete waste of money. Coils all the way!!!
My hair is pretty well suspended!
And my discos on air and I'm keeping it! I carry loads of weight in it and it stays level, old 300 was on the bump stops
Hair suspension great for towing heavy caravan , 300tdi down at the back with van on and car loaded , replaced air bags two years ago , it took longer to jack up the car than it did to change air bags.
mine does and will continue to do so.
find it very handy for carrying heavy loads in the boot.
was initially sceptical about its reliability, but its actually quite a simple system to fix.
I have air and I will be keeping it as long as possible, I had a p38 and read all the issues with them but got none my self apart from two worn bags, which is just wear and tear.
I have driven a disco 3 that belongs to a friend and the air suspension on those is far superior and makes for a very comfortable ride
No Air.. Just good old springs Thank God.If I could remove half the crap in It I would. Its only things to go wrong.I love my Disco 2 .I have never use air con I just open the window a bit for fresh air.I never use Cruse control.Soon Im going to remove the Ace as there is a little wet weep on a pipe. But once that's gone I never need worry about that again.Come to think about it any thing I dont use and dont need for an mot will be removed.
Ours is the most basic version, and all the better for it!!! Coils, no sunroofs, no aircon, etc far less to go wrong. Tows the horse trailer absolutely fine really cannot see a need for over complication in what is for us at least a utility vehicle.
