Just out of morbid curiosity does anybody know if you can use the swivel preload spring balance values pre-ABS swivels on an ABS equipped axle?

The thing is that I don't have a torque wrench that can measure such low values when setting bearing pre-load so I have to sort of guess which is not really my way of doing things.

Any input gratefully received.

Cheers.

Yes, the pull resistance should be the same irrespective of whether it has ABS or not. The spring balance method is far better at measuring bearing preload than a torque wrench anyway.

Cheers, I suspected it should be the same but the workshop manual seemed quite clear it was one set of spring balance values for pre-ABS and then a torque setting for 1990 models with ABS and a different torque setting for 1991 ABS.

As for setting with a torque wrench, I agree a spring balance is a much better method, for a start it is a lot easier to get in there and no adapters to fiddle about with.
