hi im still having problems with my p38 i have change the fuel pump, fuel filter, leak off pipes and it had a new battery and glow plugs 6 months ago. it will start then run for about 4 seconds the revs just die then it cuts out it has no revs if you put you foot to the floor nothing happens it just dies. Eventually if you keep trying the revs will pick and smoke pours out it and it is fine for the rest of the day and will start at the first turn of the key. This only happen first thing in the morning and when the engine is cold can anyone please help

ECU temp sensor first port of call if engine fires straight away but does not go to fast idle.

ideal thanks will have a look, would that be affected by the cold tried the car when it was a few degrees warmer and it started first time

This temp sensor tells the ECU/EDC how cold it is and the ECU/EDC selects the most appropriate fuel map based on this information....

If it is giving erronous information, starting will be difficult. When the ambient temperature increases, the starting becomes easier as the required fueling for the given temperature is closer to the default fuel map the ECU/EDC uses when it gets inccorect information from the sensor....

If that makes sense........

Does to me Saint can't speak for everyone else. It retards injection, increases fuel and sets fast idle. Without that yer mota wilna go. As a jock would say.:D:D:D
