The old way is always best i think, remove the sump bolt and drain, best to do after the engine as had a good run so oil is hot if flows better.

While the oil is draining out undo the oil filter cap/top, and let it rest on the top of the body.

After about 5 minutes remove the cap.

Then remove the old filter.

Clean out the pot, with some old rags.

Add the new good quality filter.

Fit new oil ring seal.

fit the cap.

Then tighten to the 25Nm on the cap.

Refit the new clean sump plug with new alloy washer, and fill with 6.5 litre of your oil, start engine run for about 3 minutes, turn car engine off, refit the under tray, lower the car to level ground, runit up the road for about 5 miles come back, leave to stand for 15 minutes then check level of il top up if need be i like to keep my oil between low and high in the middle of the dip stick.

Another tip change the PCV filter at the same time.

Since this thread has meandered into a general servicing discussion, what's the current thinking on the PCV? I remember that it was perceived as beneficial to fit the filterless cyclone updated design of PCV a few years ago, is this still the thinking or do we now think that the old style PCV with filter is better?
