Hi
Great forum and great to be a part of it. I recently purchased my first 2002 freelander which I love, only trouble is it has a cassette player..I want to buy the original CD player for it but was wandering if anyone knows if they play mp3s as my music is mp3s that I have put on a CD? Any advice appreciated.

This is a good question. I’ve been meaning to try it myself as mine has the 6-CD player and I don’t want to ruin the looks with an after-market unit just so I can connect my phone.

The manual does say that anything other than commercially produced CDs may not work.

I’ll try and find a blank CD and give it a go today and report back.

No. The factory CD multi-changer play's CD audio only. MP3s weren't a well known format back when the FL1 was designed.
For a 2002 FL1, it's easy to install an aftermarket HU than does play all you need. ;)

You may find using sofware, like nero or power dvd to make a music cd, rather than a data cd, will work; it does for me.
